The CW Developing 'iZombie' from 'Veronica Mars' Creator

The CW might as well change its name to The DC. The network has put its third DC Comics pilot into development after the Arrow spinoff The Flash and the upcoming Hourman.

The series, titled iZombie, is a supernatural procedural centered on a zombified medical student who takes a job in the coroner's office to gain access to the brains she needs to preserve her humanity. Yet with each brain she consumes, she inherits more memories, prompting her to team with law enforcement to solve the crimes responsible for each corpse's death.

iZombie will be co-written by Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas and his writing/producing partner, Diane Ruggiero. The show is in its early stages, having only received a script order so far from The CW.

This is one of the more unique series in development, but I have no idea how they're going to make it work on broadcast television, given the grim, potentially graphic (if not somewhat silly) subject matter. But it should be an interesting pilot, if nothing else. Thomas has certainly delivered in the past. At best, it'll be a clever, darkly comedic cult hit in the mold of Veronica Mars. At worst, it'll be a gloriously silly little show. I'm excited either way.
