Ever read The Painted Girls? If you haven't, it's no biggie. The CW has got you covered.

The CW and CBS TV Studios are developing another French period drama to go along with newcomer Reign. Based on the book by Cathy Marie Buchanan, The Painted Girls is a drama set in 1880s Paris "against the backdrop of the turbulent and exciting world of 'La Belle Epoque' – decadence, poverty, sex, drugs and a serial killer running rampant throughout the city." The story itself centers on three sisters studying at a top ballet academy, one of whom "becomes the muse for Edgar Degas and his famed paintings of ballerinas."

Geoffrey Nauffts (the Tony-nominated playwright behind Next Fall) will script the adaptation in addition to his role as co-executive producer. Dan Jinks (Pushing Daisies), is executive producing as well. Hopefully, he'll have better luck with The Painted Girls than his last project at the network, the medical drama Emily Owens, MD, which was canceled in its first season. Fingers crossed.
