CW Casts 'Vampire Diaries' Alum in 'iZombie' Pilot
The cast for the latest pilot from Diane Ruggiero and Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas is beginning to take shape. iZombie, an upcoming series based on the DC comic of the same name, has added Last Man Standing alum Alexandra Krosney as Peyton, the best friend of series lead Liz. Peyton feels like she and Liz are drifting apart, and although she's right, Liz has great reasons for hiding the truth. As the pilot establishes, Liz is "a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories."
So yeah, that'll take a toll on a friendship. But Krosney isn't coming to the cast alone...

David Anders, a recurring alum of Once Upon A Time and The Vampire Diaries, is joining the cast as the villainous Blaine, "an entitled rich kid who bites off more than he can chew in the drug business." Awful lot of biting going around here, but also a lot of crime, as the series features Liz solving homicide cases in order to "quiet the disturbing voices in her head" that are a byproduct of her brain consumption.

Malcolm Goodwin, one of the stars of Breakout Kings, has been cast as in the role of police detective Clive, Liz's partner-in-crime-solving. Clive is a detective "who recently received a promotion from vice to homicide but has been floundering for his first two months and is in desperate need of making a case."
The show is looking for a spot on The CW's 2014-2015 schedule, and frankly, I'd be shocked if it didn't earn a place on the lineup. A new Rob Thomas series is almost too good an opportunity to pass up.
