Curtis Golden – Audition – The X Factor UK – Video

Curtis Golden auditions with "Candyman" by Christina Aguilera on The X Factor UK.

Curtis' quirky, fun, acoustic version of this song got the crowd rev'ed up and on their feet.  His voice and style reminded me a bit of Casey Abrams.

He is a self-proclaimed "sterotypical nerd or perhaps a geek" and says his hobbies including playing video games and collecting comic books. He's a huge Spice Girls fan and hoped to impress Mel B., who was guest judging.

I thought his rendition of the song was a lot of fun and I really like his bluesy voice and style.  If everything he does is exactly like this, I think it could get old, but I'm hoping he can bring something unique to his future performances.

Judges Comments:

Louis - "I didn't know what to expect."  "You're quirky and you're different, but you remind me a little bit of Peter Kay.  But in a good way!"  "I think you've definitely got something."

Tulisa - "I think we've got a nerd that is very talented!"

Mel B. - "I found it all a little bit irritating."  "The overdoing the comedic personality thing, I found it irritating."

Gary - "Great audition.  Well done!"

He got three yeses and one no from Mel. B.
