'CSI' Season 15 Episode Order Cut

Could the former juggernaut known as CSI finally be slowing down? That's certainly the impression given by the latest decision from CBS.

The network has chosen to cut down the episode order for Season 15 by four, leaving us with 18 episodes from the original 22.

However, CSI fans shouldn't necessarily fret just yet. The decision is reportedly less about ratings than it is about inventory, since CSI: Cyber is expected to take over the Sunday 10pm time slot later this season. In short, the ratings don't seem to be a huge concern for CBS right now.

In fact, the move to Sundays has actually been a fairly successful one for CSI. Its overall numbers may be down, but its average rating among adults 18-49 has remained mostly consistent. Still, this will be the first time in the history of the show's run that CSI hasn't produced a full season of 22 episodes. Does this mean the show is winding down? Maybe. But CSI remains one of CBS' most recognizable, high-profile franchises, so I don't think it'll be coming to an end too soon.
