CBS has renewed one of its cornerstone dramas. "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" will return for a 14th season. In addition, the network has closed a new deal with star Ted Danson to continue on the crime procedural.

Along with Danson, Elisabeth Shue and original cast members George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, Paul Guilfoyle and Robert David Hall, Wallace Langham, Elisabeth Harnois, David Berman and John Wellner will also return in the fall.

“CSI is synonymous with CBS, and we are so proud of the series’ creative and commercial legacy and its continued success on our Network,” said CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler in a statement. “The writers and producers have done an amazing job evolving CSI, reinventing the show around an incredible leading man in Ted Danson, the acclaimed Elisabeth Shue, and our beloved and talented core of original cast members.”

This season, "CSI" has continued to be a ratings powerhouse, routinely winning its time period in viewers (11.8 million), adults 25-54 (3.8/9), and the key demo of adults 18-49 (2.9/8).

So what do you think about this renewal? Is "CSI" past its prime? Or is it still one of TV's best procedurals?
