'Criminal Minds' renewed for a ninth season

After yesterday's report that two of the lead actresses on Criminal Minds, the hit CBS procedural, rejected new contract offers on the basis of gender-related salary disparity, it seemed as though the show might not continue.
Thankfully, for fans of the crime drama, the cast was able to find middle ground with the producers.
All five of the series' principal cast members -- Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore, Kirsten Vangsness and A.J. Cook — have agreed to new, two-year contracts, a resolution that paved the way for the renewal of Wednesday's #1 show.
CBS will announce the rest of its fall schedule Wednesday in New York.
