Craig Robinson Sitcom Picked Up By NBC

Craig Robinson delivered some of his best-known work on NBC as a cast member on The Office. Now, the This Is The End star is headed back to the network with a project of his own.

Craig Robinson's sitcom has received a six-episode order from NBC. In the comedy series, Robinson will play a musician who is hired as the music teacher at a local middle school. According to NBC, “while teaching the kids everything from rock to the blues, he simultaneously learns how to put the school’s rules to the test.”

So swap out Jack Black and sub in Craig Robinson, slap a new title on it, and you pretty much have a repainted School of Rock. Not that this would be a bad thing, given that the "music teacher connects with students" conceit has been used to great success in the past. You know, in such illustrious shows as...um, The Steve Harvey Show? (Whatever, I liked The Steve Harvey Show).

The sitcom currently has the working title Mr. Robinson, and will be developed along with executive producers Mark Cullen, Rob Cullen, Howard Klein, and Mark Schulman. Although the episode order is only a tentative one, I'm confident in Robinson's ability to deliver something funny, as he's a genuinely talented comedian.
