Comedian Hannibal Buress Calls Bill Cosby a Rapist During Set (VIDEO)
For a lot of comedians, it almost goes without saying that Bill Cosby is an icon to be idolized. After all, Bill Cosby: Himself is one of those seminal comedy albums for aspiring stand-up comics that remains as relevant and funny today as it was in 1983. But comedian Hannibal Buress thinks it's time we stopped idolizing Bill Cosby. In an intense, anti-Cosby rant in his latest stand-up set, Buress explains why.
Last week during his show at the Trocadero in Philadelphia, Buress condemned the comedy legend by citing the multiple instances in which he was accused of drugging and sexually assaulting women, outright calling Cosby a rapist during his set.
"It’s even worse because Bill Cosby has the f***in’ smuggest old black man persona that I hate," said Buress. "He gets on TV, 'Pull your pants up black people, I was on TV in the 80s! I can talk down to you because I had a successful sitcom!' Yeah, but you rape women, Bill Cosby, so turn the crazy down a couple notches."
"I guess I want to just at least make it weird for you to watch Cosby Show reruns," Buress later states. "I've done this bit on stage and people think I'm making it up.... when you leave here, Google 'Bill Cosby rape.' That s*** has more results than 'Hannibal Buress.'"
It's a passionate rant from Buress that's well-worth checking out. You can watch the video below:
