Colton Dixon - Rooftop Album Preview

American Idol star Colton Dixon performed on the EMI rooftop today in New York City. He previewed a few songs from his debut album which comes out in February 2013.

As someone not familiar with Christian Rock music, I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised at how accessible his new music was. The four tracks he performed with his band were all very good.

I got to chat with him for a bit and he said that he isn't composing any more new music since they have enough for the album already. He said that singing on the rooftop of EMI made him feel like one of the Beatles. It was a great venue to showcase music I must admit, quite a stunning backdrop.

For "Noise," he said that he was hoping for some sirens to help out from the street during the show -- which actually happened when they were rehearsing. He said that this was his favorite track.

"You Are" is his new single which will come out soon on iTunes. It was my favorite from the set.

"In and Out of Time," he described as "crazy" and was like a Muse song. I took a video of the last few seconds.

I think that his new single will chart again on the Billboard Christian Music charts like his first single "Never Gone." Colton showcased some nice tunes, which his fans will definitely embrace. The Christian themes are definitely there even if Colton was rocking it out on stage. Hopefully these songs are reflective of his entire album.

Will J.Lo be correct in saying that Colton will make many many records when he got booted of American Idol? Looks like we have a good solid 4 songs so far.
