Colin Farrell Confirms Role In 'True Detective' Season 2

Rumors of a female-led Season 2 for True Detective doesn't mean we won't be losing out on roles for some well-known male actors.

Case in point: Colin Farrell confirmed to Irish newspaper The Sunday World that he has signed on to appear in the second season of True Detective.

“I’m doing the second series,” said Farrell. “I’m so excited.”

HBO has yet to comment on the story, but sources say Farrell has either reached an agreement to star in the series, or is close enough to signing a deal that it might as well be considered a done deal.

Farrell would go on to spill what little details he knows about the second season: it will consist of eight episodes, and will be set in California.

The show is looking to return at some point in 2015, although likely not until the summer. Regardless, Farrell is an interesting choice to join the cast, as he brings a certain manic energy to just about every project of his. Now, all we need is a name on the female lead that's been rumored since half past forever, with damn near every major actress in Hollywood reportedly in the running, from Oscar winner Jessica Chastain to Mad Men's Elizabeth Moss. Let the speculation continue.
