Cobie Smulders Returning to 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is bringing back some familiar faces.

Not long after the announcement that Samuel L. Jackson would be returning for the season finale, we now have word that Cobie Smulders will be joining him as a returnee. She first appeared in the series pilot, reprising her role as Maria Hill from The Avengers.

Smulders, who is fresh off the controversial series finale of How I Met Your Mother, will return as Maria Hill in the episode airing April 29. This will mark the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent's first appearance since the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which implied a possible new future for the character. The episode is expected to feature Hill teaming up with Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) in some fashion. Either way, an action-packed hour is pretty much guaranteed. After this Tuesday's crazy episode, it's clear that big changes are already in store. It should be interesting to see how Hill factors in.
