Former American Idol and Celebrity Apprentice runner-up Clay Aiken has released a new TV ad against his opponent Rep. Renee Ellmers.

Aiken is running for Congress against the Republican in North Carolina's 2nd District. The ad is running in the Raleigh and Greensboro markets.

Aiken criticizes Ellmers for voting against the payroll tax cut and for voting for the government shutdown.

Clay is currently trailing Ellmers in the polls in the heavily GOP district. He is the first openly gay candidate to run in the district.
