Clay Aiken Is Leading in Congressional Primary Race
Could an American Idol become an American Congressman? It's certainly starting to look that way, as Season 2 finalist Clay Aiken is ahead by a narrow margin in North Carolina's Second Congressional District Democratic primary as the unofficial numbers began to roll in early on Tuesday night.
However, as the evening wore on, Aiken's lead slimmed considerably. As of press time, he has a lead of just over one percentage point over second-place challenger Keith Crisco. The margin between Aiken and Crisco is so narrow that many felt the race would require a recount. Currently, the Associated Press has the race billed as "too close to call":

Both candidates are waiting until Wednesday to comment on the race, as nothing is official at the moment. Ever since filing for Congress, Aiken has put as much into winning this race as he did into winning American Idol...to pretty close to the same result. In short, it's the Clay vs. Ruben voting fiasco all over again. Maybe it'll turn out better for Clay this time.
