Chris Hemsworth Is PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive 2014 (PHOTOS + VIDEO)
It's Thor galore for PEOPLE Magazine: Chris Hemsworth has been named Sexiest Man Alive for 2014.
The 31-year-old Aussie actor takes over the title from The Voice coach Adam Levine, who was PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive for 2013. He earns the title which has been shared, in recent years, by Channing Tatum (2012), Bradley Cooper (2011), Ryan Reynolds (2010), and Johnny Depp (2009).
When he first heard the news, Hemsworth admitted he thought it was "pretty funny". And he wasn't the only one. His wife, Spanish model Elsa Pataky, got a good chuckle out of it too. And maybe an eyeroll or two.
"I think you've bought me a couple of weeks of bragging rights around the house," he tells PEOPLE. "I can just say to her, 'Now remember, this is what the people think, so I don't need to do the dishes anymore, I don't need to change nappies. I'm above that. I've made it now.'"
The news of Hemsworth's ascension to the throne as PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive 2014 was announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live, as the cover for the issue, which hits newsstands on Friday, was revealed on the air as audience members tried to guess the cover man's identity by asking a series of yes or no questions:
