Chris Colfer to Write Upcoming 'Glee' Episode

Chris Colfer is taking on further responsibilities on the set of Glee.

The 23-year-old actor will write an upcoming episode that will air later this season.

Reportedly, the show’s producers (including series co-creator Ryan Murphy) offered Colfer the chance to write his own episode, and the actor jumped at the opportunity. There's no word yet on what the story of the episode will entail, but Colfer has apparently met with the show’s writing staff to work on some ideas.

Of course, this won't be Colfer's first go-around as a writer: he wrote, produced, and starred in the 2012 indie film Struck By Lightning, and also penned the best-selling Land of Stories children’s book series.

In short, Colfer is the perfect man for this job. Who knows? Maybe his auteur sensibilities could help revitalize a franchise that is losing steam after a particularly tough season. It wouldn't be the first time an actor got behind the camera of his show and created amazing things.
