Chris Christie - Bridgegate Press Conference - Video
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie denies all involvement in the Bridgegate scandal. He spoke for over two hours!
E-mails were revealed yesterday that his Deputy Chief of Staff orchestrated the closure of the George Washington Bridge in September 2013 as retaliation for the non-endorsement of Christie by the Fort Lee, NJ mayor.
Bridget Anne Kelly wrote to David Wildstein of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in August 13, 2013: "Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee."
Wildstein responded: "Got it."
The bridge was partially closed for four days and delayed emergency responders (a 91-year-old woman died).
This is a huge blow for Christie's ambitions to run for president in 2016.
I can't see any up side to this. Even if he really did not know and his aides "betrayed" him, you really can't "apologize" for Mob-like behavior in public office. Closing the bridge for pure political motivation? That's a very low bar.
