CBS releases 2013-2014 primetime schedule

CBS has announced its 2013-2014 primetime schedule, and it's one of the safer lineups on TV, with only three high profile time slot changes. Of course, given that CBS is TV's #1 network, it's unsurprising to find that they don't really want to mess with what works.

The full schedule is below with new series in CAPS (via Vulture):

MONDAY

8:00 PM: How I Met Your Mother 8:30 PM: WE ARE MEN 9:00 PM: 2 Broke Girls 9:30 PM: MOM 10:00 PM: HOSTAGES (fall) / INTELLIGENCE (mid-season)

TUESDAY

8:00 PM: NCIS 9:00 PM: NCIS: Los Angeles 10:00 PM: Person of Interest (new time slot)

WEDNESDAY

8:00 PM: Survivor 9:00 PM: Criminal Minds 10:00 PM: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

THURSDAY

8:00 PM: The Big Bang Theory 8:30 PM: THE MILLERS 9:00 PM: THE CRAZY ONES 9:30 PM: Two and a Half Men (new time slot) 10:00 PM: Elementary

FRIDAY

8:00 PM: Undercover Boss 9:00 PM: Hawaii Five-0 (new time slot) 10:00 PM: Blue Bloods

SATURDAY

SUNDAY

7:00 PM: 60 Minutes 8:00 PM: The Amazing Race 9:00 PM: The Good Wife 10:00 PM: The Mentalist

Along with the extra hour of comedy added to Monday nights, the other big moves are the time slot changes for Person of Interest, Two and a Half Men and Hawaii Five-0. Only the latter show risks being adversely affected by the change, as Fridays aren't exactly good for any drama series (except NBC's Grimm, for whatever reason). Mike & Molly is being held off the schedule for the time being, though the show has been renewed and will be returning at some point (however, the series returning to its former time slot would appear to be contingent on one of the new Monday comedies failing).

As for new series, CBS is adding Hostages to the lineup. The series stars Toni Collette as "a surgeon whose family is being held hostage by a rogue FBI agent (Dylan McDermott) until she kills the president." At mid-season, the show will hand over its time slot to Intelligence, a drama starring Josh Holloway and Marg Helgenberger. In addition, "steamy legal drama" Reckless will premiere at some point during the year, most likely during mid-season.

Other new series include We Are Men, starring Kal Penn, Jerry O'Connell, and Tony Shalhoub as "lovelorn men living in the same apartment complex"; Mom, the latest from Chuck Lorre, starring Anna Faris and Allison Janney; The Millers, which features Emmy winner Margo Martindale (Justified) as the mother to funnyman Will Arnett (liberated from the behind-the-scenes debacle of NBC's Up All Night); and The Crazy Ones, a half-hour comedy from David E. Kelley which stars Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar as "a father/daughter advertising duo." Meanwhile, Friends With Better Lives premieres at mid-season, and will tell the story of a group of people who wonder if, perhaps, the grass is greener on the other side. Yay, comedy?
