CBS cancels four series, including 'CSI:NY'

CBS is reshaping its lineup, and the change includes some high-profile cancellations -- most of them cop dramas.
CSI: NY has officially been given the ax, leaving only the mothership as the remaining CSI program on the network. In addition, once-promising freshman series Vegas has been canceled, following its midseason demotion to Friday nights.
First-year cop drama Golden Boy never really got started, so its cancellation is no big surprise. Also not a big surprise, the cancellation of Rules of Engagement, a series that was never a hit. The show continued to survive season after season, routinely defying expectations thanks to a dependable (though small) niche audience, and the lure of valuable syndication dollars if the series could make it to 100 episodes. The comedy comes to an end on Monday, May 20 after seven seasons with the network.
