'Catfish', 'Ren & Stimpy', 'Hey Arnold!', More Are Coming to Hulu
Hulu is getting a massive infusion of Nickelodeon nostalgia.
Thanks to the extension of Hulu and Viacom's streaming deal, Hulu Plus will be getting a ton of shows from Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, TVLand, Spike, BET, and Logo.
“Today, I am excited to share the news that we are extending our partnership with Viacom—to continue bringing thousands of episodes from some of Viacom’s most popular series and a selection of kids content to Hulu,” said Hulu’s senior vice president and head of content Craig Erwich.
Of the titles announced so far, we know that The Ren & Stimpy Show, Drake & Josh, Hey Arnold! and Invader Zim will be coming to Hulu Kids. In addition, a slew of Latino programming will be added, including Spanish-language versions of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Spongebob Squarepants.
But the uploads don't end with classic kids' series, as Hulu's acquisitions include popular shows from both Comedy Central and MTV. On the MTV side of things, Catfish, 16 & Pregnant, Faking It and Snooki & JWoww will be added to the lineup, while Key & Peele, Drunk History, Inside Amy Schumer, and Workaholics will represent Comedy Central on the streaming service.
All in all, it's a pretty eclectic mix. I don't think any of these shows necessarily make Hulu Plus a must-have service on their own, but taken all together, they could be a real difference-maker for some. More shows will be added in the coming weeks, but for now, this is a pretty solid lineup to rival Netflix. Particularly if you're looking to satisfy your inner 90s kid.
