'Catfish' Host Nev Schulman Lands Book Deal

Nev Schulman, host of Catfish: The TV Show alongside friend Max Joseph, is getting into the book business.

Schulman has signed with Grand Central Publishing for his first book, to be titled In Real Life. The book will chronicle Schulman's "continuing exploration of relationships in the digital age, which started with the indie documentary Catfish" and "broadened to the MTV spinoff show in which he helps one partner in a digital relationship meet the other, a collision that usually leads to the discovery the other person isn’t who they said they are, and sometimes not even the gender they claimed to be."

In addition, the book will also offer lessons Schulman learned through the making of the Catfish documentary and Catfish: The TV show, such as how not to get sucked into an emotional attachment with shady figures through social media (although if everyone follows his advice, he'd find himself out of a job. My suggestion for advice? "Hey, no, it's totally great that he doesn't want to Skype with you. It means he's ready for commitment"). No word yet on if the book will be classified as a narcotic for being as addictive as the TV show.

In Real Life is scheduled to publish in Fall 2014.
