Cate Blanchett Dedicates BAFTA Win to Philip Seymour Hoffman - Video

Cate Blanchett has been caught in a storm of awards season chaos. Her Oscar-nominated performance in Blue Jasmine has been minimized in recent weeks due to the controversy surrounding director Woody Allen, who's come under fire due to allegations of sexual abuse from adopted daughter Dylan Farrow. But none of that controversy was in evidence at last night's BAFTA Awards ceremony, as Blanchett took the top prize as Best Actress for Blue Jasmine, a clear harbinger of her chances at a second Oscar.

Yet instead of spending her speech talking about Blue Jasmine, or about Woody Allen, Blanchett instead touchingly spoke about her late friend, the great Philip Seymour Hoffman. In a touching tribute, Blanchett poignantly discusses how Hoffman raised the bar for actors everywhere, and notes the immense sadness of his loss, beyond just what it means to the acting community. It's incredibly moving, and further illustrates that Cate Blanchett is a total class act. Watch the full video below:
