'Castle' Star Nathan Fillion Sidelined With Back Problems

Several months back, Castle star Nathan Fillion was a no-show for work on the set of the ABC crime drama, leading to a shutdown in production for the day amidst contract disputes between the actor and ABC Studios over the star's request for a four-day Monday-Thursday work week. The matter was quickly resolved, and filming continued on as scheduled.

However, Fillion's scheduling conflicts are not completely in the past just yet.

The star reportedly called in sick on Friday, with a source close to the production confirming that the actor is dealing with chronic back problems, for which he is seeing a chiropractor. Fillion allegedly seeks medical attention whenever the pain gets in the way of his ability to perform his role on the show, and it's this condition that led to the delay in the show's shooting. However, the production had enough warning ahead of time to schedule around Fillion's absence. Sources are adamant that the schedule issues between Fillion and ABC have been resolved and he has worked multiple Fridays over the past two months. Fillion is expected to report back to work Monday.

The sixth season of Castle premieres Monday, Sept. 23 on ABC.
