At the top of the heap is news that Oscar winner Mira Sorvino will be joining USA Network's hit crime dramedy, Psych, in a multi-episode arc in its latest season, according to TV Guide. Sorvino will play Betsy Brannigan, "the new head detective of the Santa Barbara Police Department." Her character is described as "an incredibly sweet, adorably reserved and yet certified badass. ... She's a scrapbooking, cat loving, crime-fighting machine."
Sorvino will first appear in the seventh episode of the show's eighth season, and is expected to pick up some of the slack left by the absence of Maggie Lawson's Juliet, who will only be in a few Season 8 episodes due to Lawson's casting on the new ABC comedy Back in the Game.
Though an official premiere date for Season 8 has not been announced, USA Network recently expanded the episode order to ten.

Meanwhile, The View's own Sherri Shepherd has been cast in a recurring role in the final season of How I Met Your Mother.
A CBS press release states that Shepherd will play Daphne, a woman Marshall (Jason Segel) meets on his way to New York for Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin's (Cobie Smulders) wedding. She'll first appear in the season premiere, titled “The Locket".
“We're all extremely excited to have Sherri Shepherd joining HIMYM for an arc in Season 9!” said co-creator and executive producer Craig Thomas. “She is hilarious and delightful and perfect for this part – we couldn't be more thrilled!”

Lastly, the cast of ABC's Revenge has expanded for the third season. Justin Hartley, best known as Smallville's original Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, in addition to his role on the now-canceled CW series Emily Owens, M.D., has been cast in a huge role.
Hartley will play Patrick, the long lost son of Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe), reports E! News. The actor will first appear in the season premiere, and has signed on for a multi-episode arc.
