2014 is looking to be the Year of Penny!
Casey Wilson, who played Penny Hartz on the dearly-departed Happy Endings, is partnering up with the executive producer of that cancelled comedy for his new series, Marry Me. And it's definitely a fine fit, given the title of the series, since the executive producer in question just so happens to be Wilson's fiancé!
Wilson will star in the comedy pilot, to be written and executive-produced by fiancé David Caspe. The series focuses on a Annie and David, a couple that must endure a host of challenges that arise following their decision to get engaged.
Wilson hasn't been hurting for work since Happy Endings came to a less-than-happy end last year. Earlier this month, NBC picked up The Mason Twins, a single-camera comedy pilot she scripted alongside June Raphael (NTSF:SD:SUV). The series centers on "fraternal twin sisters who, after being estranged for 15 years, reconnect when one’s perfect city life has fallen apart and she returns to her suburban hometown to find that her sister hasn’t matured past her teen-queen days."
I absolutely love Casey Wilson in just about everything I've ever seen her in, even her tragically brief run on SNL. So Marry Me is getting a preemptive spot on the DVR that exists only in my mind, since I don't actually own one.
