Casey Kasem body decomposing in Norway, says daughter Kerri

The body of Casey Kasem is decomposing, un-embalmed in a mortuary in Norway, according to legal documents filed by his daughter Kerri Kasem against his wife Jean Kasem.

Kerri is asking a judge to force Jean to bring back Casey's body to the United States so he can be properly buried. Casey's children want to conduct a private autopsy which might help in the investigation of elder abuse against Jean by the LAPD. The family suspects that Jean had brought Casey's body out of the country in such a poor state to make an autopsy inconclusive.

Casey Kasem died in June.

Kerri Casem's lawyer Martha Patterson said: "The body is decomposing, and probate code states that if the party with priority fails to bury remains, then the duty to bury can go to the next person on the list. So if a spouse doesn't act, then children or siblings can step in. I think what Jean has done with the body is horrifying. It's contrary to everything I've learned about transporting a body. I believe she's intentionally doing this because we obtained an order authorizing a private autopsy."
