Carson Daly - The Voice 3 - Pre-Season Predictions - Video
Carson Daly shares his pre-season predictions for season 3 of The Voice. Carson says their "one goal" is to make The Voice the best singing competition on television and they'll do whatever it takes to make it happen.
Daly's predictions include:- More heartache - more contestants and more rounds means more eliminations and tough decisions for the judges, which equals "more heartache"
- More diversity - the judges branched out more in season 2, not always selecting contestants that were in their own genre. They will take this idea even further in season 3
- More strategic song selection - the judges made stupid song choices in season 2, so they're going to try and pick less stupid songs in season 3 and save their best for last (OK so he didn't actually say that, but he was obviously thinking it)
- More pop acts - pop music is really big right now, so we'll see more of a "pop showman" (what?) this season
Pairing alternative rocker Billie Joe Armstrong with pop diva Xtina certainly seems to suggest the show is promoting "diversity" in contestant selection and the new twists with the additional rounds and judge steals should definitely ramp up the drama.
I hope he's right about the song selection thing, but we shall see. I'm excited for the season to start and I think season 3 is going to be the strongest yet for The Voice.
