Carrie Underwood vs. Bo Bice - Mega Analysis

Carrie051805

Bovscarrie051805

Bo051805

She's a little bit country... He's a little bit rock and roll...

Oklahoma: pop. 3,450,654
Alabama: pop. 4,447,100

Assuming their entire states are voting, that's a 1 million vote advantage for Bo.

Checotah, OK: pop. 3,481
Helena, AL: pop. 10,296

Again, advantage Bo.

For the conspiracy theorists, the past American Idols have been: Season One: Amazing White Female, Season Two: Chubby Black Male, Season Three: Fantastic Black Female, Season Four: Long-haired White Male

Again, advantage Bo.

Fan demographics: Bo has captured the baby boomers and (rock fans who are male) while Carrie fans comprise of country music fans, young girls and little boys (and men who think like little boys) who will have a crush on her for the next five years, and basically, the coveted 18-40 age group. It is for this reason that Carrie will win because she will be easier to market to Idol's target audience. Bo does not have the same effect on young female fans like Carrie. They'll just basically plaster Carrie's picture all over the place to sell her CD, she'll be named one of the most beautiful people in America, have her own cosmetic line, etc. It's sickening to some I know, but that's how showbiz works. She's a cross-over talent. Remember, American Idol is all about business. You can continue to be in denial if you want, but you know I am the voice of reason.

Bo will be offered a contract for sure by the producers. They might even be doing it right now. I don't think his sales will be affected if he doesn't win Idol. Carrie on the other hand might if she doesn't, and I don't think AI will let go of her as well, but they won't get much out of her as an Idol runner-up. A Carrie win and Bo runner-up makes better business sense I think.

Finally, if Bo just completely blows Carrie out of the water next week, then he should rightfully win or the show will face a backlash from the public. It's so blatantly rigged right now, I feel like I'm writing it. In that Bo-is-better-but-loses scenario, people will go nuts. However, all Carrie needs to do is have one amazing song, and she's in. Also, if Bo and Carrie sing different signature songs, like that of Clay and Ruben, which is highly likely, then Carrie will win. It's the perfect smokescreen: people won't able to compare properly because they sang different songs. They can always claim that there are more country fans than rock fans, etc.

I'm kinda making a prediction, but I don't really want to make a prediction officially since, I am cursed. So we'll leave the thoughts in the air like that.

This has been the most manufactured Idol ever, but I think it is better entertainment-wise compared to Season 3. It's almost right up there with Season 2, which came back with a vengeance this year with the Paula scandal. (Again, I missed Season 1, but I heard it was good, the clips of Kelly Clarkson are just amazing.) I'm still surprised that some people still think this is a singing talent contest. Wake up guys, it's just entertainment. It's the perfect reality show which is why it is so popular. Ever wonder why we've been bombarded with all kinds of backstory and personality profiles of the Idols? That's what were voting for, not the singing. And remember you don't vote for the quote and quote best, you vote for your favorite.

Ok, good night. Star Wars is next...
