Carrie Underwood Is Named Top-Earning 'Idol' Contestant

Forbes has recently named Carrie Underwood the top-earning American Idol alum since the show first aired in 2002.

Apparently the country star has earned $83 million in the past five years, after winning the fourth season of the show in 2005, with an impressive $31 million of that hitting her bank account from June 2012 to June 2013. In that 12 month span she even earned more than last season's judges Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, putting things into sharp perspective.

Kelly Clarkson, the first 'Idol', comes in second on Forbes' list, earning $7 million from touring revenue, while Phillip Phillips and Adam Lambert are tied at third, each ranking up $5 million. Chris Daughtry comes in fourth with $4 million, Scotty McCreery fifth with $3 million, and let's not forget older winners like Fantasia Barrino and Taylor Hicks who both earned more than $1 million in the past year. Kellie Pickler also saw her revenue spike when she won Dancing With The Stars.
