Carrie Preston Returning to 'The Good Wife'
True Blood may be coming to an end, but just like that show's other popular redhead, Carrie Preston already has her next TV gig lined up.
Preston will reprise her role as Elsbeth Tascioni in the sixth season of The Good Wife this fall. While it's not certain just how long Preston will be staying around, we're hoping the show gets the most out of her. The lady is way too talented to use in small doses. In fact, Preston would be a great addition to the cast as a series regular. Hell, she's looking for her next full-time gig as we speak...
“I’m hoping I can get another show. I really love doing TV. I got my fingers crossed that I get a regular gig on another show.”
She doesn't even have a preference for the type of role she plays, since she's a total pro at adapting if necessary: “Luckily, I don’t get typecast. If anything, I’m not sure people know what my type is,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I don’t even know what my type is. When you consider Arlene, Elsbeth on The Good Wife, and Grace on Person of Interest, those three characters couldn’t be more different. I just want a juicy role—if it’s in a half-hour, if it’s in an hour. I would never presume to imagine a role. I couldn’t have dreamt up those three women, and look how great they all are. I just trust and have faith that something fabulous will come along and will be a good fit, and I’ll be able to jump into it.”
If nothing else, Preston is keeping busy in the aftermath of completing shooting on True Blood. She'll guest star in Season 2 of HBO’s Getting On as cancer patient Denya Thorp. Basically, it's a huge departure from her role as Arlene on True Blood, from Elsbeth on The Good Wife, and from Grace on Person of Interest. In short, Preston is spending the next few months illustrating why she's one of TV's most versatile actresses.
The Good Wife premieres its sixth season on Sunday, Sept. 21st at 9pm on CBS.
