I hope she finishes this album soon since the window of opportunity to sell a hit from her time in Idol has closed. It would be easier for her to promote if she had something to promote.
The latest date that any non-finalist released an album that went on to successful sales was March 20, 2007 with Elliott Yamin -- just barely into the next Idol season. Jennifer Hudson released a successful album 4 years after her Idol-stint, but that was mostly due to her Academy Award win.
If I were Carly, I would go indie right now and promote like crazy on the Internet. Instead of buying another car, she should invest it in her career. There are still many opportunities.
The American Idol machine is now busy promoting Season 8, so Carly will have to rely on the good graces of media people who still remember her.
