Carly Smithson and the American Idol Top 24 Girls - Preview
Here are the girls to look out for tonight on the American Idol Top 24 Girls:
Carly Smithson -- Carly Smithson is the most pimped contestant in American Idol history! This is what I think will happen: American Idol will finally come clean with the $2.2 million record deal Carly Smithson had with MCA Records. Everything that we've been talking about for weeks, they will show this in her introduction video. Carly Smithson had a major record deal with MCA Records which flopped in 2001 ($2.2 million spent + 378 copies sold = flop). She was at MCA while Randy Jackson was the VP of A&R there. The record flop was well-publicized in the music industry at the time and made the front-page of the Wall Street Journal. American Idol has never acknowledged this publicly on the show, choosing instead to focus on Carly Smithon's visa issues 2 years ago, but I think American Idol will tell us Carly Smithson's real story tonight. (Dear Idol: FYI, this is a great story angle. A lot of writers have already expressed that it is so much better than her visa issues. A lot of viewers will get on board with this, including myself -- just don't look like you are trying to deceive us by not telling her entire music career story).

Amanda Overmyer -- the "Rock and Roll Nurse". Amanda Overmyer drives a Harley Davidson and channels Janis Joplin. Amanda Overmyer survived a car crash which left her with a couple of broken ribs and stitches in her head a couple of weeks before Hollywood Week. She's one of our favorites this year because we have a soft spot for nurses specially those that rock.

Kristy Lee Cook -- she's HOT! Has an Arabian horse named Midnight that she loves to ride bareback. Midnight is not the horse she sold to buy a plane ticket to Philadelphia. She first auditioned in San Diego but was ignored, and then sold a horse she had rescued and trained so she could audition in Philadelphia. Kristy Lee Cook is HOT and that's all I care about.
Ramiele Malubay -- Filipino-American with tons of personality in a small package. Ramiele Malubay is now a sensation in the Philippines and the Philippine community in the U.S. Her favorite singer is Regine Velasquez. Go Ramiele!
Joanne Borgella -- Joanne Borgella won Monique's Fat Chance on Oxygen. I don't care! She's beautiful. We love Joanne Borgella.
Syesha Mercado -- was a contestant on ABC's ill-fated The One: Making a Star. Major pimping from the American Idol.
Kady Malloy -- claim to fame: does an awesome Britney Spear impression. I like her. I hope she performs well.
Asia'h Epperson -- claim to fame: her father died a few days before she auditioned, and is the storyline that American Idol is taking for her. This is for her father people.
Brooke White -- supposedly shy singer with no self-confidence, she has a whopping 14,000+ friends on her MySpace to vote for her. A silent but potent fanbase. Do not underestimate this nanny.
Amy Davis -- some pictures of her in a bathing suit are being distributed on the Internet. Zero chance.
Alexandrea Lushington -- Zero chance. (Sorry 2kids!)
Alaina Whitaker -- Zero chance.
