Carly Smithson - American Idol 7 - Top 24 Interview

Carly Smithson's American Idol Top 24 Interview

Carly Smithson now has curly locks. Carly says she likes to cook and thinks she's similar to Kelly Clarkson because they both have a high range. Hmmm. Generally I thought she came across as a bit showbizy up until that brief moment when she talked about her father. Her father came to America to get her signed to a contract when she was young. He succeeded, but "it didn't work out", Carly said. Yeah, to the tune of a $2.2 million loss to Vivendi Universal (LOL). At any rate, wearing my James Carville hat, I think that it can still work if Carly Smithson was a bit more forthcoming with details like this since, essentially that is her story. How does one come back from being conditioned as a child that you would become a star and to come up with a flop album at a young age of 18? This is something that I as a viewer would like to know -- and certainly a question she'll have to answer in the future now that she's in the limelight. Instead we get the manufactured "I think I wouldn't make Top 24 because I had a bad audition" crap.

Even in this interview Carly Smithson gets pimped. She got 8 minutes while the others got only 4. Unbelievable.
