Canoe Sprints - Men's K1, K2 & C1 & Women's K1 - London 2012 Olympics - Results
The first ever medals for Canoe and Kayak sprints were handed out today at the London 2012 Olympics. The Men's single and double kayak and single canoe and women's single kayak sprints at 200 meters finals were contested today.
Here are your medal results:
Canoe and Kayak sprints made their Olympic debut at the London 2012 games. The events were designed to be a shorter, faster and more exciting rowing event, which would hopefully attract more fans to the sport. They are basically the rowing equivalent of the 100 meter dash and the rowers even have some of that same sprinter attitude.
There's not much strategy involved in these races. It's basically just row as hard as you can for 200 meters.
Men's K1 Results:
Gold: Ed McKeever - Great Britain
Silver: Saul Craviotto Rivero - Spain
Bronze: Mark de Jonge - Canada



Men's C-1 Results:
Gold: Yuri Cheban - Ukraine

Women's K-1 Results:

Silver: Inna Osypenko-Radomska - Ukraine

Gold: Yury Postrigay & Alexander Dyachenko - Russia
Silver: Raman Piatrushenka & Vadzim Makhneu - Belarus
Bronze: Liam Heath & Jon Schofield - Great Britain
