Camille Muffat Wins Gold for France - Women's 400m Freestyle - London 2012 Olympics - Medal Results

In the Women's 400m Freestyle, at the London 2012 Olympics, American Allison Schmitt set a new personal best time and came just a little over three one hundredths of a second from winning gold.  However, France's Camille Muffat did her one better, setting a new Olympic record time of 4:01.45, resulting in a gold medal victory.

This was another closely contested and exciting match up.  Schmitt gave it everything she had and stayed with Muffat all the way to the wall, but came up just short.  A real gutsy performance by the American.  Congratulations to all the medalists!
