Bryan Singer Responds to Allegations That He Sexually Abused a Teen Boy
X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer is responding to allegations that he forcibly sodomized a 15-year-old boy.
As a result of this lawsuit (by a man who is now in his 30s) he will not be doing any press for the film, which is due out on May 23.
"The allegations against me are outrageous, vicious, and completely false," Singer said in a statement.
He continued, "I do not want these fictitious claims to divert ANY attention from X-Men: Days of Future Past. This fantastic film is a labor of love and one of the greatest experiences of my career."
"So, out of respect to all of the extraordinary contributions from the incredibly talented actors and crew involved, I've decided not to participate in the upcoming media events for the film. However, I promise when this situation is over, the facts will show this to be the sick twisted shakedown it is. I want to thank fans, friends, and family for all their amazing and overwhelming support."
The lawsuit came just last week on April 17.
The accuser (who claims Singer promised to trade sexual favors for a movie role in the late 1990's) is being represented by the same lawyer who sued Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash for sexually abusing several young boys.
Just an FYI: all charges against Clash were cleared.
