This gig could prove to be a huge boon for Mars, as the Super Bowl is routinely the most-watched TV event of the year, and the Halftime Show often scores higher ratings than the actual game itself. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Madonna's 2012 halftime performance currently ranks as the most-watched event in U.S. television history, with over 114 million viewers tuning in. Even when viewership records aren't being broken, the Halftime Show still attracts TV's largest audience: Beyonce's halftime performance last year brought in 110.5 million.

Naturally, with the Super Bowl coming to the New York area next year, the city is expected to host a series of concerts sponsored by the NFL in at least four of the five NYC boroughs plus New Jersey in the days leading up to the Super Bowl, with VH1 as its broadcast partner, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
