Brooke Burke-Charvet fired by 'Dancing with the Stars'

Dancing with the Stars has dropped co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet!

The news comes just weeks ahead of the March 17, 2014 premiere of Season 18 on ABC.

Brooke tweeted that she was a "shocking pre-season elimination".

In a statement to E!, Brooke said:

"I have enjoyed seven seasons co-hosting DWTS but understand the need for change considering the position of the show at this juncture," she said in a statement. "I've always been one to embrace change and looking forward to pursuing opportunities I previously wasn't able to entertain because of contractual obligations to the show. I've seen my fair share of shocking eliminations in the ballroom but this one takes the cake."

She apparently had no idea she was going to be fired. She learned about it on Friday afternoon.

DWTS also fired their orchestra recently, which was replaced by Ray Chew and his band (formerly on American Idol before Rickey Minor came back this season).
