Bright Side of Life

Okay, let's just divide this post into parts so it's easy for you and me.

1. January sucked. Yes, it was a very stressful month, mainly due to the fact that I was screwed over by a previous employer. It was one of the worst episodes I had dealing with money and very crooked human beings. I am so glad its over, although the experience was horrible. As a consolation however, I am glad that I am not working for them anymore since they are not very intelligent and cannot spell their own company name:

I also came away with a sense that I will not allow myself to be used like a slave ever again. So good for me.

So basically in January, I became self-employed, and after the initial jolt, I am slowly bringing my life to some regular rhythm. I have found a couple of regular gigs that will keep me going for a while (until I find a really good gig), and I am actually enjoying what I do. (Writing checks using other people's money is fun...) And of course, I have surprised myself once again, since I have made myself busy all week. So... good for me.

2. Online friends are great! I stumbled upon downelink.com recently, which is a gay and lesbian site for guys on the "down low". Of course, having your picture on such a site basically makes you non-down, but a lot of cuties have been doing it anyway. I noticed that there are a lot of young Asians and Latinos from the West Coast on that site. Needless to say, I've been chatting, and miraculously, I have been able to make ONE friend. Yay. My IM usage has increased somewhat over the past month, but it has made me quite happy. Unfortunately, this guy lives in Oxnard, CA, so he will remain an online friend for a while. I have been dropping hints that I will fly over there however, so we'll wait and see what happens. Good for me, no?

3. Today was a great day. I slept with a fever last night, but I woke up bright and early. I had breakfast and went to work not rushing. I got things done -- I finally sent the Quickbooks file to the accountant -- and I managed to drop by the Japanese bookstore and splurge on stationery. I also got two freelance computer work which is always welcome. In between, I attended yoga class after missing it for months. I left the session feeling very happy. I think I will go to yoga again next week. It is very good for my well being. It made me so happy it has driven me to write in my blog. Oh, it's so good for me!

4. Idolforever.com, et al. Idol has been such a delayed project, I am now forcing myself to get it done. It also helps that finally there is a cutie (link to follow) and no more psychos as the main act of the show. Please register on the site so I get inspired!

I also have another web project that is so delayed, I am quite ashamed. I need to put a sign on my computer or post something on my forehead. It's actually not helping my client that he told me "there's no rush", since I'm obviously not rushing. But not rushing is not equal to forgetting, so must... get... it... done... gasp. (This will be good for me, this will be good...)
