'The Bridge' Canceled by FX
It's curtains for The Bridge, the critically-acclaimed crime drama adapted from a Danish-Swedish co-production. FX has canceled the show after two seasons.
The Bridge finished its second season on October 1st with a paltry 1.03 million viewers and a 0.3 rating among adults under 50. This was a downright disastrous number for the show, worse than the network's King of the Hill rerurns that aired on the same night. In short, a cancellation wasn't just inevitable, it was pretty much expected, unfortunately.
Yet the show might not be headed to the TV graveyard just yet.
The Bridge’s production studio, Shine America, is reportedly searching for a new network to pick up the series, which stars Demian Bichir and Diane Kruger as detectives working cases in and around the bridge between El Paso and Ciudad Juárez. While it's unknown if any other network has shown interest in the drama, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that it might find new life somewhere else. It's certainly a drama that's worthy of a second chance, even though I didn't think the second season was as eerily gripping as the first. Hopefully, some other network takes notice. But, for now, The Bridge has fallen down.
