Bret Michaels calls off engagement

Bret Michaels has called off his engagement to Kristi Gibson. They have been together for 16 years and he proposed in 2010 during the finale of Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.

Rocker and reality TV regular BRET MICHAELS has called off his engagement to the woman who nursed him through a series of medical emergencies in 2010.

Kristi Gibson, the Poison star's longtime girlfriend and the mother of Michaels' two daughters, has split from the rock star, ending a 16-year romance.

The 49-year-old star asked Gibson to be his wife in December, 2010 as part of the finale of his VH1 reality show Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.

A spokesman for Michaels says, "Although the couple have separated, they remain great friends and are committed to jointly raising their two daughters, Raine and Jorja."
