What's next for Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan? More crime, apparently.
The virtuoso writer/executive producer of the AMC series is looking to create another crime drama, this time focusing on the other side of the law. Battke Creek has received a series production order for the 2014-15 TV season from CBS, reports Variety.
House creator David Shore will act as showrunner for the series, in addition to duties as executive producer alongside Gilligan and Breaking Bad's Mark Johnson. Gilligan has also expressed an interest in directing if his schedule allows.
The series will focus on two Michigan detectives who "must figure out if cynicism, guile and deception will help clean up the streets of Battle Creek, Mich., in the face of lack of resources or if naivete and trust will get the job done."
Battle Creek was originally developed at CBS in 2002, but Gilligan's script wasn't ordered to pilot, and the project was put on the shelf until its revival here, in the wake of Gilligan's success with Breaking Bad's final season and the show's high-profile Emmy win for Outstanding Drama Series.
