Brad Paisley Claims Sony Music Swindled Him Out of $10 Million

It has emerged this morning that Brad Paisley is suing his label Sony Music for $10 million in royalties - money that he claims Sony illegally withheld from him, resulting in breach of contract.

According to court documents filed on March 31, Sony has failed to live up to their agreements and legal obligations, despite a lawsuit in 2011 complaining of continued refused access to royalty rates, and incorrect application of these. Reportedly discrepancies between Brad's Recording Agreement with Sony and reality reveals that they have significantly underpaid him.

This is not the first time Brad has sued his record label, however. He originally filed in 2002 to gain access to his royalty information, but he was partially shot down by a judge who informed him he had signed a contract only allowing him to make changes to royalty payments from 2006 onwards.

Following the 2011 lawsuit, the case was at a stand-still for some time before this new one shed some light on more of the details, perhaps enabling it to progress further.
