Boyfriend of Jiah Khan arrested in connection with her suicide

A surprise development has surfaced regarding the death of one of Bollywood's brightest young talents.

The boyfriend of actress Jiah Khan, who hanged herself in her Mumbai home last week, has been arrested in connection with the 25-year-old star's suicide.

Suraj Pancholi, the son of Bollywood couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was taken into custody earlier today by Mumbai police on suspicion of abetting Khan's suicide. While Pancholi was not present at the time of Khan's death, law enforcement believes that he compelled the actress to take her own life. It's a viewpoint that is publicly shared by Khan's mother, who accused Pancholi of abusing her daughter. This belief is the result of Khan's six-page suicide note, discovered in her handbag by her family, in which the late actress accuses an unnamed person of torturing her and "ruining her life."

In the note, Khan also alleges she'd been the victim of rape and other abuses, including being forced into having an abortion. According to police, Pancholi spent two nights with Khan prior to her suicide, and is also purported to have been the last person to speak with her, in an intense argument over the phone.

Neither Pancholi nor his family have made any comment on the charges as of yet.
