Blake Shelton's PR Lie About Selling Out Legendary Venues
Ooops. Turns out country golden boy Blake Shelton is not as fantabulous as his PR division would have you know.
Just a couple of days ago, they put out a press release that stated Blake had sold out both his shows at the Hollywood Bowl and Madison Square Garden on the day they were released, last Friday (March 7). But actually, as @WindmillsMusic kindly pointed out on Twitter, neither show has sold all its tickets. In fact, while the Hollywood Bowl is close, Madison Square Garden still has plenty of tickets available.
It turns out that being announced on Monday meant that it was conveniently timed for the final round of ACM voting to begin. Sadly although it might mean he picks up a few more votes, it will mean that many fans who saw the release will not bother to go looking for tickets, and thus they lose out on that revenue. *facepalm*
I suppose it's one of those poorly-kept secrets that PR can over-exaggerate things with good timing, but it's also not something any of us like to think about and certainly not something I'd ever really considered in detail, particularly not this level of outright blagging.
I just hope this story does the rounds and then his publicist has to deal with the awkwardness.
