Blake Shelton Talks About 'The Voice' Season 3 - The Today Show - Video
Blake Shelton talks about season 3 of The Voice, his judging style, his fellow judges and takes the opportunity to gloat a bit about being the reigning champion on The Today Show.
Blake says he irritated pretty much everyone on the show with his gloating this season, but hey, where's the fun in winning if you can't gloat about it?
He also pokes a bit of fun at his fellow judges, saying Christina and Cee Lo must "feel pretty crappy about it," since they have yet to claim a victory on the show. He also jokes that he has a box of ratty old t-shirts that he's going to send to Adam, since "that's all he wears."
Though he acknowledges it's cliche to say so, he does think season 3 will trump the first two in terms of contestant quality. He also thinks the judges have gotten tighter as a group and have become more savvy about how to do things on the show.
In my favorite part of the clip, he talks about buyer's remorse, remarking that there are times when he has hit the button for a contestant and then regretted it because they "had an ego," or 30 seconds after he hit the button they "starting sucking."
Part of the fun of the blind auditions is watching the judges squirm when they realize they've made an obvious mistake in hitting their button. I particularly love the looks on their (and sometimes the other judge's faces) when they've just hit the button and the contestant immediately goes off the rails.
In case you hadn't heard, The Voice premieres tonight.
p.s. I love the way he says "fights."
