'The Blacklist' Breaks DVR Ratings Record

NBC's first-year thriller The Blacklist is one of the biggest new hits of the fall season, and now the drama has the hard data to back it up: the series has just set a new DVR ratings record.

The Blacklist has become the first broadcast TV show ever to add more than 6 million viewers as a result of playback over the first seven days of an episode's release.

The release of the full DVR data from Nielsen for the second week of the 2013-2014 broadcast season confirms that the new James Spader-starring drama went from 11.4 million viewers on its premiere night to 17.9 million over the course of its first full seven days. In addition, the series is one of the biggest hits in the adult demographic, growing a massive 67% from its premiere week.

However, The Blacklist didn't get all the spoils, as other networks showed tremendous gains across the board. The biggest percentage gains among adults 18-49 for the second week of the fall season was FOX’s New Girl, which 85% in the key demographic. CBS was close behind with Elementary, which gained an impressive 77%. In third was FOX's Brooklyn Nine-Nine with a 73% gain, followed by the network's hit drama Sleepy Hollow, which was up 70 percent.

Other big gains were made by NBC’s Parenthood, which earned gains of 68%, followed by a three-way tie between FOX's Glee, ABC's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and NBC's Revolution (+67 percent), each of which brought in gains of 67%, respectively.
