'Black Box' Canceled by ABC
Black Box is getting put in a pine box by ABC.
The network has canceled Black Box after just one season. The show, which starred Kelly Reilly as (of all things) a sex-addicted/bipolar neurologist, was a midseason series intended to fill the lucrative Scandal time slot on Thursday nights. Black Box averaged 7.1 million viewers for its in-season episodes following a promising start, yet it only scored a 1.8 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic. And that number includes DVR playback. So it was no real surprise to find that ABC has decided to pass on a second season, without even getting into its generally poor reviews from critics and audiences alike.
It's kind of a shame, since I love Kelly Reilly and wish she would become as popular as she is talented. But she needed a much better vehicle for those talents than this. Here's hoping she finds one.
