'Birdman' Rules at Gotham Independent Film Awards 2014 - Winners List

The critics groups have started naming their best pictures of the year, as awards season is in full swing.

Last night was the Gotham Independent Film Awards 2014, taking place at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York. The ceremony, as one could probably guess from its name, honors the best in independent film, making this a bit of a mirror with the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, which share some winners (namely, Richard Linklater's Boyhood and the Edward Snowden documentary CITIZENFOUR).

Michael Keaton is one step closer to perhaps landing his first Oscar nomination, winning Best Actor for his role in Birdman, which was also named Best Feature. Julianne Moore, meanwhile, scored Best Actress for Still Alice, a movie that has not only gained considerable Oscar buzz in the past few weeks, but has also been in the headlines as one of the five films that were leaked online following a hacker attack on Sony.

But what other films and stars earned top honors?
