Billy Elliot!

I watched Billy Elliot again last night.

Billy was played by Trent Kowalik and Michael by Frank Dolce. Last time, we watched Kiril Kulish and David Bologna. The only one I need to watch now is David Alvarez, and hopefully we get to see him the next time. I wonder if the box office will tell me which dates he is performing. I might watch again in March or April.

On second viewing, I still loved the show. Unfortunately, Haydn Gwynne who plays Billy Elliot's dance instructor Mrs. Wilkinson still can't sing. On the second song of the show -- 'Shine' -- she holds the final note for 10 seconds in all it's flat glory. Uggh. She also did this the first time I saw her. She's a wonderful actress, but she just can't carry a tune, which made me sad. At least she's not annoying like Nina in "In the Heights" -- she made me want to strangle myself everytime she opened her mouth.

I don't know if it was because of the frigid weather, but the entire left and right front mezzanine seats were empty. Shocking considering the show is supposed to be sold-out. Some shows on Broadway are at 50% capacity these days.

While waiting outside for our picture, Lin-Manuel Miranda walked in front of us and I called to him. He looked back at me and said hi. Yay!
